Ruth and Hannah were very excited about going to feed the goat this morning.

It was lovely for us to see the
Pukeko in their garden with a young chick. A bird that is very common in many areas in NZ but it was our first time to see them in the wild
and they are lovely.

Michelle milking and showing the girls how it's done.

Ruth had a go and so did Rachel and I. It was not at all as easy as Michelle made it look. :-)

It was also so funny to see the ducks next door.

Michelle had raised two of them and they still remember and come over to see if there is any food for them. They were a bit nervous with the little two though. The girls enjoyed getting this close though. What a treat.

We then headed over to the Franklin zoo. It was lovely for the girls to get to see an elephant as there aren't any in the Christchurch animal parks.

A very friendly cockatoo. Rachel even got the courage up to give it a scratch.

The highlight for me must be feeding the zebra. I kept my distance though as the emu were quite aggressive (there was one just to the right of the zebra which I wanted to keep an eye on).

It was lovely for all of us to get a wipe and a chance to feed them. Such beautiful creatures.

Close enough to a horse for Rachel's liking. :-)

And the first time I have ever seen a white peahen (and her young chick).
