Snacks, seizure, smiles and a storm

Brendon took Asher out this morning for her trampoline time. So I quickly headed out to get a photo. She has had so much fun on it (limited to mornings) and I am so thankful Ruth's prayer request for her has been answered.

On Friday evening Rachel got biscuits made for the family before our dinner went into the oven.
I wanted some biscuits too though (see the chocolate chip cookies recipe here, and you will understand why there are two different batches made - mine with no carbs).

I wanted to make good use of the oven being on though - so got a Wacky cake made too. I asked Rachel if she wanted to try making gluten free shortbread (we had heard about shortbread on Anne of Avonlea and it made us crave some). So she made two batches (carb free for me and a almond / oat mix for the family). We were happy with this first try - so here is the recipe.
On Sunday morning it was so cute to see Asher up on Hannah's lap. I don't think Hannah often sits long enough for this to happen - so it was most definitely photo worthy. :-)
Asher's "homework" from Champion Centre this week is to practice "same" (the sign that Brendon is making in the first photo). It's a foundational skill for communication and a principle that is helped by having a sign (like "more" and "help"). She learnt the sign for "more" last week, and although I'm not sure if she will be able to duplicate the "same" sign - at least she is understanding what it means. She does naturally sort things, but it's been fun to create new opportunities to sort things into the "same" types.
Unfortunately not long after these photos were taken, she had a 4 minute vacant seizure. Her breathing was only compromised during the last 2 minutes - so we were thankful for that.
Brendon and Rachel went out for afternoon tea and Brendon got to enjoy that Gluten free Brownie I told him about last week.
They forgot to take the camera with - so Ruth took these photos when they got back.
Just look how tall she is getting.

Below: I decided to pack away the big box of lego and just keep these ones out for Asher to practice her "same" game.
It was so sweet to watch her put her little "piles" along the side of the chair. And just look at that happy little face.

The wind picked up in the afternoon - so Brendon headed out to get the wood box filled. Ruth and Hannah helped (and Asher did a bit of raking).
Hezekiah just enjoyed playing under the tarp as it flew up with all the wind. We got in just in time. It really got freezing. When they returned from church in the evening it was already down to just 1 C. A very cold snap hitting the country. It makes us all very thankful for our warm home, fireplace, and big pile of wood.
