Milk Tart


PASTRY:
125g butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
a pinch of salt
2 tsp baking powder
a little milk

Preheat the oven at 180C.
Cream the butter and sugar.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
Mix well and press into 2 greased pie plates.
Bake for 10 minutes or till slightly golden.

FILLING:
4 cups milk
1 tbs butter
2 1/2 tbs flour
2 1/2 tbs cornflour
1 cup sugar
vanilla essence
2 eggs

Boil the milk and butter.
Mix the rest of the ingredients into a smooth paste.
Take the milk off the heat and add the paste to the milk. Whisk briskly while slowly pouring in so that it does not thicken on the bottom of the pot.
Return to the heat, stir until thick.
Pour into shells and sprinkle with cinnamon.
