Puss in Boots

Tuesday 10th March: My heart was sore for my precious children when the decision was made that we could not keep Midnight. The guy who offered to take her linked me to an add for another kitten that needed a home. I was nervous at first to even look into it. I thought I should at least ask about it's familiarity with dogs. I chatted to Brendon and the kids and we decided to take her. So on Tuesday, on the way home from dropping Rachel and Ruth at ballet - we picked up our new kitten (older than what Midnight was - but still a kitten).
The lady offered to lend us a cage for travelling - but it was not needed. Puss sat so comfortably on Hannah's lap - licking her arm and purring to her cuddles.
One happy little boy. Hezekiah plays so much with the cat in the house. So I am very pleased we have found a "replacement" for him.
The kitten had been called Shadow, but as we already have a dog named Shadow - we knew we would be looking for a new name.
And this regular playing position was the deciding factor. Introducing: Puss in Boots (with her nice white boots too). Puss for short.
Having so much fun already.
She quickly learnt to use the cat tree for scratching.
It's also lovely to have a kitten that is already used to people and being in a house - as she would naturally just jump up onto the chair (rather than hiding behind it like Midnight did for the first few days).
She enjoyed looking out the window at Shadow once she was locked up for the night (the kennel is just outside there).
So comfortable.
Wednesday 11th: Already fidning all the toys to play with. Asher's balls are a hit. She will sit on the couch and throw them off (as usual), and now she gets to enjoy watching the cat chase after them.

Ruth made a little "house" for Puss with a box and some books. We have a few extra boxes around the lounge now as the kids love watching her enjoy them.
Thursday 12th and already we felt comfortable letting her venture outside with Shadow around.
Shadow just wants to play. It was the same with Midnight. She just gets so excited.
Puss wanted to just enjoy a roll on the path. She lets Shadow get relatively close - but is not totally relaxed around her yet.
Friday 13th: Asher enjoying ball play with Puss again. She starts with a nice big collection of balls on the chair with her.
Puss letting Shadow get closer. And up on her back legs again.
So we thought we would let Shadow inside and see if we could help them get closer in a comfortable setting.
I was amazed to see this gentle connection. No claws out and patiently allowing Shadow to have a sniff.
So cute. And I am so pleased with this progress. And that in less than 4 days.
Yay. So pleased that it looks like these two are going to get along. So nice to see Shadow get herself nice and low. She so longs to have Puss as a friend. Every morning she comes and looks inside for her.
