I think the best way to describe how everyone in Canterbury is feeling today is numb. It's just so terribly frightening to see the consequences of yesterday's quake. Today the cordon in the CBD got even tighter as fears of this 26 story hotel collapsing were on every ones minds. You can clearly see how the left side has slumped. The foundation has just sunk with all the liquefaction on that side of the building.
What has been amazing though has been to see the amazing resources that are being used to free people that have been trapped alive in buildings. There are Search and Rescue teams coming to New Zealand from all over the world to support us through this time and the organisational excellence of this country is already very visible.
