Easy Chocklate Cake with a long story

We took one of these cakes to our friends last Monday and this week they asked for the recipe. Thankfully I knew it off by heart but then checked and noticed it is not on the blog. The story behind this cake is that my sister Michelle came home with the recipe and told my Dad that you just put everything in the bowl and mix. My Dad had always taught us how to mix things in the correct order and so this was really going against all that we had learnt about baking cakes. Well, it's flop proof and you really do just throw everything in and mix. So here it is:

Chocolate Cake
(Michelle Collins)

2 cups sugar
4 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
4 tablespoons cocoa
4 eggs
1 tsp salt
1 cup oil
2 cups water

Preheat the oven to 180. Mix all the ingredients. Bake for 1 hour.
We like to add chocolate flakes to the bottom of the tin. This creates a lovely "topping" for the cake and there is no need for icing. Before we started doing this we would just sprinkle icing sugar over the top when it was cool and Rachel still things of the cake that way when she sees snow capped mountains. :-)
