New food

You normally the sunrise photos I take around 7am from the study window. Well today I thought I would show you what the effect is on our mountain seen from the kitchen window. It's just magnificent.
Today I had a go at using the sore dough that I have been preparing for the last week. I made one loaf with just rye and spelt flour (for Ruth - it seems people with gluten intolerance often cope fine with these flours) and the other I used the rye starter (the sour part) and white flour, wholewheat flour and our normal seeds. Other than the starter (which is just rye flour and water) I only add the other flour, some salt and water. So there is no raising agent added.
A new morning tradition is for the girls to play hide and seek while I get the juice ready. Here Ruth and Hannah are hiding under the stairs (and having a bit of a game while they wait for Rachel to find them).
Julia also lent me some Tupperware ice lolly cubes. So while making juice this morning I froze some and they got to enjoy them as an afternoon snack when the little two got up from their nap. They all really enjoy it. These ones had more kiwi fruit in, but we will experiment and I think every day will have a slightly different taste.
I left the bread to rise the whole day. From 8:30 in the morning. And by 8pm they were looking really good. I had been quite worried that they would not rise at all. But I patiently left them and I am so glad.
They had the same cooking time as a Madeira cake, so we got something different for our evening snack. I look forward to seeing what the girls think of the bread tomorrow.

Just thought I should mention that Rye and Spelt aren't gluten free :(
Wheat, Rye, Oats and Barley have gluten and Spelt is another type of wheat.
Not sure if this might cause her some trouble.
I love the picture of the sunrise. How wonderful to wake up to that in the morning! God creation is SO beautiful!
