This weekend we got stuck into
weeding. So although they are not all gone yet, we are definitely
making progress.

Have any of you wondered where
potato seeds come from? (It was suggested that next year we plant from seeds rather than using the eyes on the potatoes the way we did this year.)
Well, from the
fruit. Here is a "bunch" of the fruit that is starting to grow. It will be interesting to watch them grow.

And it's finally time to see
what has been happening under the ground.
We were really impressed with the size (and smoothness) of our
lovely looking potatoes.

Rachel was very excited to
count them all. She counted the
tiny ones too (you can see one closest to the camera). It ended up being a maths lesson too. She counted 36 potatoes from 3 plants and worked out that it was an average of
12 potatoes per plant. Not at all bad for our
first crop. And there are some
big ones there too.
